Pink Avenue Models – Gossip

Models get stressed out just like anybody else. Promotional models stress about their crazy schedules full of trade shows and events. Brand ambassadors stress about how they are going to get to their 6am event and how they are going to make it through their 12 hour event with no sleep. Promotional models that work with liquor brands stress about their nights out at bars and clubs and all the horrible comments they will deal with that night. Print models worry about their early call time and making sure they are well rested for their 8-10 hour photo shoot that requires tons of energy. All models have to worry about keeping their modeling agencies and clients happy which might be the most stressful part of the job. The modeling industry can be glamorous and have a lot of perks, but like any other industry it has stressful moments too. So how can models relieve stress??

1. Be prepared for your scheduled event, then you have nothing to stress about. Have directions printed out, clothes ready and alarm set. Do everything you need to do the night before so you have nothing to worry about the next day.

2. Have calming music on your ipod or computer at home. This will instantly calm you down and put you in a better mood.

3. Go swimming or take a hot shower or bath. Studies show that being in water helps the body relax and lowers your stress hormone levels. This will cause you to relax and take all of your stress away.

4. Exercise. This is one of the most effective stress relievers. If you are too busy to go to the gym try walking or doing yoga at home. You can always buy a work out video and do it at home if you can’t make it to the gym. Yoga is relaxing and very effective.

5. Talk about what is bothering you. Let it all out at dinner with friends. If you can’t make it out try writing it down, you will feel so much better after you let it out.

6. Get a massage. Yes they can be expensive but are well worth it. A lot of places offer specials on certain days. This will do wonders for a models stress level.

7. Have alone time every day. Do things for you, watch a favorite tv show or movie, read a magazine or book, whatever makes you happy. During this time ignore your phone and emails. Alone time is necessary even if its only 30 minutes.

Hopefully these 7 tips will help you during your next stressful situation. Just remember that everything will work out in the end and that being stressed makes everything worse.

Pink Avenue Models always talks about Chicago because that is where our office is located. We staff events nationwide so we thought that we should talk about other cities across the nation as well. Today our blog is going to focus on trade shows in California. There are so many great convention centers in California and here is a small list of trade shows happening in October.

Last nights episode of America’s Next Top Model was full of drama and eliminations.  Rachael was sent home last week along with Courtney which means there were only 11 models at the start of this week.

The models learned how to walk on the runway from J. Alexander, lets just say that some did better than others.  Some of the tips J gave to the girls were to have speed, presence, big steps, chin down, look sexy, and keep your shoulders back. That is a lot to remember when you are walking in your very first fashion show. The models challenge was to walk in their first fashion show at a mansion in Malibu wearing Kevan Hall designs. The girls had to walk with another model that was normal runway height. You could definitely notice the difference.

Of course there was an elimination last night, Lulu was sent home meaning only 10 models remain in this competition. Next week on ANTM Tyra Banks will go behind the camera and photograph the models. The Print ‘09 show was last week and Pink Avenue Models staffed trade show models for a couple of the booths. This was a 6 day show with long hours but the models did great! Here are a few pictures of one of our models from the trade show.

Q. Does Pink Avenue Models have open calls?

A. No, Pink Avenue Models does not have open calls at this time. We have such an unpredictable schedule that we think it is best to take all model submissions online.  This also allows us to get model submissions from every state in the US and even internationally.

Q. I tried to submit online but my submission won’t go through, what did I do wrong?

A. Every field on the “Become a Model” page has to be filled in and you must check the box before submitting. Make sure that you have a head shot, body shot, favorite picture, candid picture and resume, we need all of these things before we can book you.

Q. I don’t have professional pictures, can I work as a model?

A. Pink Avenue Models prefers professional pictures and that is what our clients want to see but we do take models with unprofessional pictures as well. We do recommend that models get professional pictures to enhance their modeling career.

Q. What does Pink Avenue Models do?

A. Pink Avenue Models is a modeling agency located in Chicago that staffs events nationwide. We hire models for trade shows, street team promotions, print ads, runway shows, corporate events/parties, product launches and so much more.

Q. How long does it take for Pink Avenue Models to pay their models?

A. Pink Avenue Models appreciates their models and we know that they work hard. We pay our models as fast as we can, usually within 2 weeks of the events last day.

Q. Does Pink Avenue Models work with babies and kids?

A. Pink Avenue Models does not have any restrictions on who submits online. We do not have height, weight, or age requirements. Pink Avenue Models gets calls from various clients looking for a variety of things. We accept submissions from everyone including kids, babies, plus size models, inexperienced models and anybody else that is interested in working in the modeling industry. We add a large percentage of incoming submissions to our database and contact the talent when we have an event in their city.

Summer is officially over in Chicago and we are really sad about it. Pink Avenue Models might be sad about summer being over but we are really excited about fall fashion! Fall fashion is amazing this season. Our promotional models, trade show models and print models will all be wearing these looks this season, make sure you do to.

Models hair can be worn up or down this season. The biggest looks are messy ponytails, wavy hair, low buns, and braids (think LC). These styles have all been worn on the runway and by celebrities and are so easy to do!

Fall make up is bold and amazing … think red and plum colored lips, thick black eyeliner (liquid liner works best), shimmery dark eye shadow, teal and blue eye shadows, shiny and sparkly lip gloss, dark nail polish, and so much more. Models can really be creative this season but remember never wear too much make up!

You will see lots of leather, dresses, cardigans, and tights this season. This is what our models will be wearing.

Shoes, all women love shoes and models really love them! Jeweled flats, any type of boot or platform is huge this fall. Color is in so get bold and wear blue, purple or even red shoes.

Accessories can make or break your outfit. There are a lot of decorated purses and bold jewelry that will be seen this season. Make sure you choose wisely.

We mentioned hairstyles, make up, clothing, shoes and accessories today. Follow these trends to blend in with fall fashion this season. We know our models will be wearing these items at their events and so should you.

Pink Avenue Models has had an extremely busy month. We booked models for Print ‘09, ATE, Forex Network Chicago, a VIP party for a very well known client, and have a lot lined up for the following months. Thank you to all of our models that have worked the trade shows, promotions and street teams that we have had this month.

New York Fashion Week is only going on for 2 more days. It started September 10th and ends on September 17th and is focusing on Spring 2010. This means that for 7 whole days New York is full of fashion, crazy hair and make up, new trends and gorgeous models! Not to mention all of the parties!

This year the designers are amazing. Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Diane Von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Max Azria, Narciso Rodriguez, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and so many others.  The guests are famous and gorgeous. Amanda Bynes, Bruce Willis, Mischa Barton, Tori Spelling, Hillary Duff, Nikki Hilton and Kim Kardashian were all spotted watching the runway shows.  

So what should we expect for Spring 2010? Classy, fitted, neutral colors, bright colors, pastels and so much more. These models are rocking the runway and New York is full of awesome events and after parties for Fashion Week. New York Modeling agencies should be proud of their models because from what I’ve seen they all look amazing. Pink Avenue Models loves fashion, models and everything about the industry and we have really enjoyed New York Fashion Week so far, only 2 more days.
